Is wood really sustainable material?

On our website you'll come across descriptions which state that when the promotional gift is made from wood, it's certainly sustainable. Is that a fair statement to make, considering all the rainforest logging and deforestation? Yes, we're convinced it is. We'll explain it in this blog.

Sustainable logging

Wood as raw material is sustainable, because trees can be chopped in 20-120 years, while materials such as oil and ore need ages to develop. When woods are managed sustainably and responsibly, they can serve as inexhaustible resource. Nowadays, all legal logging is sustainable, because new trees are planted instead. That's however not the case with illegal logging, because that affects rainforests. On our website you'll only find products that are made of FSC or PEFC certified wood, which guarantees sustainable and eco-friendly logging.

Carbonneutral

Thanks to photosynthesis trees are able to absorb CO2 from the air, on average 0,9 tonnage per m3. For logging and production of wood, not much energy is needed, which reduces CO2 emissions. Wood also doesn't release harmful emissions and it is a great material when it comes to recycling. When wood is not recycled, it can be burned to produce green energy. The CO2 that is released during that process, is not more than the stored amount, which makes the use of wood completely carbonneutral. Another great thing about wood is the fact that it's biodegradable. That way, future generations won't be faced with our waste.

Do you want to reduce carbon emissions and fight deforestation? Than a wooden promotional gift is a perfect choice. For example a wooden pencil, a wooden puzzle or a wooden birdhouse. It's a great way to promote your brand in an eco-friendly way!
