Techniques for printing promotional gifts

At Greengiving, we make it easy to print and personalise your products. Each technique has its own unique benefits. Think of pad printing and laser engraving, but also stickers and wraps. In this blog, you'll discover which printing method is best suited to your corporate gift – helping you make the right choice with confidence.
Printing techniques for promotional gifts
Pad printing
Pad printing is a widely used technique in which your logo is applied to the product using a rubber stamp. Each stamp is used for a single colour. Almost any shape can be printed. As the stamp is relatively small, this method is ideal for compact surfaces such as USB sticks and pens.
Digital printing
With digital printing, your files are sent directly to the digital press. The result is a fast and often full-colour print. Even small quantities are cost-effective, as there are no set-up costs. This technique is suitable for items such as Doppers, cotton bags and seed packets.
Screen printing
Screen printing is a traditional method where ink is pressed through a screen onto the material. It allows for detailed, standalone images to be reproduced. Cotton bags, jute bags and clothing (accessories) are often printed this way.
Embossing
Also known as blind embossing, this refined technique uses no ink. A press is used to create a relief in the material. The relief can either be raised or pressed deeper into the surface. It's ideal for highlighting design elements on items such as leather writing folders.
Transfer printing
Transfer printing is commonly used for textiles. A design is applied to the product using a transfer – such as foil or paper – and a heat press. The combination of high temperature and pressure ensures strong adhesion. Transfer printing is often seen on umbrellas and full-colour bags.
Other personalisation techniques
In addition to printing methods, there are other ways to give your promotional gifts a personal touch.
Laser engraving
With laser engraving, the design is permanently etched into the material. A computer-controlled laser alters the surface colour. The result depends on the material and the machine used, but it always gives a premium look. A popular technique for chopping boards and fruit.
Full-colour sticker
Many products can be personalised with a full-colour sticker. It’s a simple yet effective way to customise items. Your logo or custom design is printed on the sticker, which is then applied to products such as paper bags, Tiny Tony’s or fruit.
Full-colour wrapper
Tony’s Chocolonely bars with full-colour wrappers are especially popular. You can design the wrapper yourself using a template. A personal and tasty gift. There’s plenty of space for your logo and message, making it a strong communication tool.
Doming sticker
Doming stickers create a unique 3D effect thanks to a transparent resin layer. This forms a clear dome with an exclusive finish. At Greengiving, for example, you can add a doming sticker to a senz° umbrella.
