The CO₂ impact of our website
Our online shop uses energy too. Every visit requires electricity for servers, data transfer and visitors' devices. That's why we assess the CO₂ impact of website use and support certified climate projects that help reduce emissions worldwide.
Supporting certified climate projects
Greengiving takes part in Websites Supporting Climate Projects, formerly known as CO2 Neutral Website. Our contribution supports international climate projects, including solar and wind energy initiatives. According to the organisation, the projects supported are certified under the Gold Standard.

How is a website's impact calculated?
The initiative estimates the CO₂ emissions associated with website use. Among other factors, it considers monthly page views, energy use by servers, data transfer and visitors' devices. According to the organisation, BDO independently reviews the initiative’s calculation method.
The calculation is an estimate based on assumptions, not a direct measurement of the actual emissions from each individual website visit.
What does this mean for Greengiving?
By taking part, we contribute financially to climate projects outside our own operations. This is different from reducing the emissions generated by our online shop itself. We therefore do not describe our website as CO₂-neutral.
