The story of Sprout

The Danish start-up Sprout came up with the idea of a plantable pencil, which is of course really special. Over the last few years, this pencil became more and more popular around the world. The Sprout pencils are now available in no less than 80 countries worldwide. A perfect way to convey their mission to make impact!

The mission of Sprout

Make impact with a small, day-to-day product. That's the idea of Sprout. By planting the stump into the soil instead of throwing it away, you make a sustainable choice and inspire others to make sustainability part of daily life.

100% sustainable pencil

All parts of the Sprout pencil are 100% sustainable. The wood is FSC-certified and the green capsule is made of biodegradable material. The inside is made of clay and graphite. All in all a really eco-friendly product!

How does the Sprout pencil work?

When a pencil has become too small to write with, you throw it away. That does not apply to a Sprout pencil. At the end of the pencil is a green capsule with seeds. Put the remaining part of the pencil with the back in the moist soil, and after 1-4 weeks flowers or herbs will grow. Want to know exactly how it works? Click on one of the images below!

Colour differences

As you can see on this picture, the colours of the pencils vary. That's because wood is a natural product, so even when it's the same type of wood, the colour of the trees can vary. Though the colours may vary, the quality is still the same.

How to use the Sprout pencil?

Normally when a pencil becomes too small to write properly, it's thrown away. That's not the case with Sprout. The stump of the pencil comes with a green capsule with seeds. As soon as the pencil has become too small, you can put the stump into the wet soil and after a few weeks herbs or flowers start growing. Want to know more? View this video!
